Cartridge Heaters

Cartridge heaters are designed to provide localised heat to work areas requiring close thermal control up to a maximum temperature of 750°C.

Advantages

The cartridge diameter is fractionally undersize to ensure a close fit and excellent heat transfer when inserted into a standard reamed hole of the nominal diameter. They can also be utilised for air and liquid heating.

Available in a range of Metric and Imperial diameters. Non standard diameters can also be manufactured, dependant upon the ability to design an acceptable element spiral to suit the resistance and given length.

Applications

Compressor Crank case heating, Dies, Packaging Equipment, Plastic Moulding, Platens, Food Processing, Heat Sealing, Photographic Processing and Medical Equipment.

Service and Design

The flexibility of Holroyd's manufacturing techniques allow us to offer cartridge heaters to individual customer specifications while maintaining competitive prices and short lead times.

Installation and Fixing

Holroyd cartridge heaters can be supplied with various fittings to suit customer specifications including screwed bushes, mounting flanges, brackets etc.

Construction

Holroyd cartridge heaters are manufactured from high quality materials to ensure high performance and long life.

Two construction types are available for low and high power density applications. Low power consists of a spiral located in an MGO former and loose filled with MGO powder. For high power densities the resistance wire is wound on to an MGO core and swaged to give a compacted element resistant to impact and vibration.

The close proximity of the spiral to the outer sheath allows for maximum heat transfer and minimum internal temperatures while preserving excellent dielectric qualities. The outer sheath is a close tolerance stainless steel tube for close fitting, non-oxidising contact with accurately machined cavities.

Standard termination is by high temperature leads from the cartridge end. Options such as oversleeves, braiding, flexible conduit and terminal box are also available along with many others to suit customer requirements.
